What Causes Chronic Diarrhea With Blood In Stools?

Hi. I was wondering if it should be concerning to see red/ maroon color in the toilet after having an episode of watery diarrhea. This has happened twice. Once there was blood on the toilet paper and I though I had started my period, but that was not the case. The second time, it was just in the toilet. I am obviously female and 36 years old. I have had chronic diarrhea for my entire adult life and I have just grown accustomed to watching the foods I eat and making choices based on experience. Usually roughage passes straight through without changing its appearance. But I have never had any bleeding or red in the commode with my diarrhea. I have been tested for LOTS of things and every single test comes back within normal ranges. I have had my gall bladder removed (three years ago) as it was causing acute on chronic pancreatitis and elevated liver enzymes. I haven t had that issue since, but the diarrhea remained exactly the same. I do have urgency but have (luckily because I have had some near misses) never been incontinent and I have severe cramps and pain sometimes. Anyway, I was just wondering if it was worth calling my PCP over or not. I don t feel bad, but don t want something bad to be going on and not address it. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi thanks for contacting health care magic.

You have diarrhea with blood in stool ...
It could be severe gastroenteritis like infective condition or it could be amebiasis like patasitic infection...
To cover both bacteria and amebic infection take ofloxacine plus ornidazole tablet for 5 days....

Drink lots of fluid....
Avoid high fatty foods as your gall bladder removed and your some digestive problem can be because of its removal....
Avoid excess spicy and fried foods.

Get your proctoscopic examination for reveal piles....

If still cause not clear then polyp , IBD , microscopic colitis etc ruled out by colonoscopy and biopsy.

Hope your concern solved.

Take care.
