What Causes Chronic Cough?

Doctor, I have developed a chronic cough. 3 years ago I contracted a severe pneumonia. Developed blood clots and had a pulmonary thoracotomy. Currently taking metoprolol (2 a day), clonidine(6 a day) several statin and water pills. Thoughts and thank you.
