What Causes Chronic Cough When Diagnosed With Obstructive Pulmonary Disease?

I just got diagnosed with hyperinflation of the lungs consistent with obstructive pulmonary disease. I never smoked, not short of breath, severe chronic cough for 2 months, could there be something else underlying. I have hoarseness also. Thank you. Joanne

Hi welcome to HCM...

Hyperinflation suggestive toward obstructive lung disease but it is not only on based of x ray case should be diagnosed ...

To confirm diagnosis and assess severity Spirometry that is pulmonary function test has to be done ....
Based on which treatment decided ...

Rule out alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency by molecular method if required as you are non smoker ....

As you are also having hoarseness voice , so larynx should be examined . .for inflammation. ..

If inflammation more short term betamethasone course needed ...

Advise : for better work up consult pulmonologist ....

Take care
