What Causes Chronic Cough Along With Itching In Chest And Headaches?

I have had a cold for a few weeks now. I have a runny/stuffy nose and when I blow my nose I have yellow snot and sometimes it is chunks of yellow snot. I have been coughing for a week now and my chest feels itchy on the inside. I also keep getting headaches.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi I have gone through your query carefully and I would suggest the following if I was your family physician.
A cold is normally self limiting and clears in a week or at the maximum 10 days. And normally the secretions from the nose are colorless mucus. The fact that your cold has lasted a few weeks and that it has turned yellow suggests that you have got bacterial infection and may be your sinuses are involved.
Itchiness in the chest and cough also suggests that the infection is affecting the lower air passages.
You have not mentioned whether you have had fever during this time. The headaches may be due to the blocked nose and sinusitis.Fever associated with infection also causes headaches.
I would suggest you consult with a physician who will assess you for sinus and chest infection and suggest a course of appropriate antibiotics. The antibiotics need to be taken for 7 to 10 days.
Since you have not mentioned your age profile I am not suggesting other causes for the headaches.
Hope you find my answer useful in understanding your problem.
