What Causes Chronic Cough Along With Fever And Chills?

I,vet had very severe coughing, coughing up infectious material for 5days now. Started a couple days after returning from travel to Belgium and Holland. Live in Cincinnati so I assumed it was allergies and/or a cold, but other symptoms concern me... slight fever, tremendous amount of stuff coughed up, occasionally chills. Cold or something more severe?

Hi! To enjoy a travel and return with an infection! Not a good way to end.

What you describe is typical of a lower respiratory tract infection. I'd advice you to get a chest xray, sputum culture and sensitivity. This will clearly tell which organism is infecting you and we can initiate a particular antibiotic for it.

For now please take paracetamol 500mg up-to-date thrice a day and tepid sponging for fever. Get the tests as soon as you can!
