This week at home I started on day 3 with 2 suppositories, day 4 Fleets enema, day 5 Fleets enema day 6 Fleets enema. Each enema produced a small amount of stool. I also have been taking Myalar (spelling) per emergency room outpatient discharge. Up to 3 weeks ago I had not had an enema in 70 years. I m 77 who take medicine for grand mal and petit mal epilepsy(65 years) losartan, spirolactane, ambiolapene (spelling blood pressur medicine, probiotics,81 mg. Aspirin, and just recently bur----(depression medicine. I also am developing neuropathy. Had a stress test in November that was good for me. The neuropathy is causing falls. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are using many medications that can affect the bowel movement and especially the latest medication for depression might be a contributory factor (some of depression medication might cause constipation). Generally there is no need to stop the medication but the patient should take a good diet with fruit and vegetable and add extra fiber supplements with it. Also some lactulose regularly 1-2 table spoon daily might help have the stools soft and easier to come out.
Most of the patients should be doing well with these.

On the other hand bowel problems need to be considered in case of no help with the above measures and possibly colonoscopy done to rule out important bowel conditions that might be associated with change in bowel movement.

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
