What Causes Chronic Abdominal Spasms?

Hello I have been experiencing abdonimal spasms (similar to a charley horse), for about a year now. I have had 3 sections over a 16 year period of time. The last c section was 5 years ago. Today the cramps lasted for about 10 minutes straight. I usually am able to shake them off by reaching for the sky for about 2 minutes, to stretch it out. Today I did that but as soon as I would place my arms back down the spasms would come back. I also have numbness in the lower abdomen area from the c section line to my navel. I have talked to my doctor about this but he states it is because I have had so many c sections and I have no muscles. What do you think

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The spasms you are experiencing is likely to be muscle spasms due to nerve damage associated with repeated surgery. Here are few measures to help relieve the spasms:
- Do strengthening exercises for abdominal muscles.
- Apply warm compress and try stretching whenever you develop spams.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
