What Causes Chest Tightness With Breathlessness?
Hi for sometime now my chest gets tight and have a hard time breathing when I am running on a treadmill. I don t know why I been running and staying active for over 4 years and never had this problem. eventually my chest gets tight and have a hard time breathing or catching air when I get a mile in when I usually run 3 to 4 with ease and sometimes I can here myself breath during this incident. What do you think

Thanks for your question on HCM. Since you are having chest discomfort on exercise we have to rule out cardiac cause first than pulmonary cause.
So get done
1. ECG and 2D Echo to rule out cardiac cause.
2. If it is normal than get done chest x ray and pulmonary function test (PFT) To rule out bronchitis.
As bronchitis can cause chest tightness and difficulty in breathing.
So better consult doctor and discuss these things.
