Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Chest Pain Despite Taking Medication For High Cholesterol?
My cholesterol level is 348 and my sept and sot is high too. few days earlier cholesterol level was 406. After visited doctor and taking prescribed medication its lower down. But now I feel some pain in my chest, same like pain of cold. Please advise
I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to statins adverse effects. Is the pain triggered by deep breathing or body movements? This fact could be indicative of a musculoskeletal pain.
Anyway, considering your high cholesterol levels, if the pain persists, I recommend going to the ER for a physical exam and some tests: - a resting ECG and cardiac enzymes - CPK and liver enzyme levels - complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ilir Sharka
