General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I feel the chest pain on left side you have seems to be due to overstretch of pectoralis muscle while weight lifting. The chest pain of heart problem is mostly behind the central chest bone & is compressive in nature. Though feeling of palpitation could be psychological, it's advised to be taken care of. An ECG would pont out any possible heart involvement. Please consult a heart physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
