Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a dull ache below my right shoulder blade and sometimes I have chest pains in the front. The mere fact I am up at midnight typing this question here is proof enough I have anxiety so I worry about heart issues but is it likely anxiety? I am 44 years of age, 5 7 , 165 lbs, non-smoker, non-drinker but my diet sucks
Hi welcome to HCM. Anxiety can lead to chest discomfort simulating coronary artery disease/cad.Hence its mandate that you rule out CAD through a baseline ecg and 2 dimensional echo.In case of negative test results, control of anxiety can largely reduce your symptoms of chest discomfort.Stress management is pretty vital in your case.Drugs like anxiolytics will help to offer better help.Regular physical exercise for 20 min/day/5days/week will help to reduce the stress levels.Consult your cardiologist for further help. Thank you.
