1. since the symptoms have started abruptly we have to rule out
. any overuse of the muscle,
dehydration,
. any contributing factor like: lack of minerals [magnesium/potassium deficiency] in the diet and lack of blood supply to the muscles [
poor blood circulation in the legs]
. with onset of numbness/burning sensation one has to think of: compression of nerves in the thigh which can result in spasms and thus cramping.
2. prior to appointment with your doctor, to help ease them you may go with:
. massaging, stretching, or icing the muscle, warming the muscle, or taking a bath with Epsom salt.
. for charley horse: try putting your weight on the affected leg and bending your knee slightly, or sit or lie down with your leg out straight and pull the top of your foot toward your head.
. for a cramp in the front of the thigh (quadriceps), hold onto a chair to steady yourself and pull your foot back toward your buttock.
. stay hydrated
. eat food high in
vitamins,magnesium,calcium
