What Causes Calf Cramps Post Fracture Near Knee?

I have a fractured fibula (near my knee) that is 2 weeks old. It has never been wrapped/supported and the dr I saw did not recommend crutches. Now, I am having cramps in my calf. One doctor has suggested that it could be a blood clot and I should have an ultrasound, is this typical?

Hello,

* There can be various causes of calf cramps post knee fracture as

- nerve compression ( with history of plaster cast in many cases )

- blood clot due to prolong bed ridden issues

- referred pain through ligament stretch
- other neurologic issues

However, a clinical examination is must for further comments.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
