What Causes Burning Sensation While Urinating Despite Being Treated For UTI?
Hi, I had a lot of pain in my lower back and bladder. I was diagnosed with Urine Infection upon which a doctor prescribed me antibiotics and pain killers. Its been 2 weeks and the pain has gone but it still burns when i pass urine. Should I be worried and do some extra tests just to be sure?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Pain you experience can be most likely from urethritis. This can be from unresolved urinary infection or presence of small stone particles in urinary tract. So better to do a urine routine as well as culture and sensitivity to rule out this. Ultrasound examination should be done if needed after this. Taking barley water and cranberry juice will be helpful to dilute the urine and get relief from this. Sodium hydrogen citrate syrup in water can also be used for relief. If there is persisting infection from culture report then taking the sensitive antibiotic for proper duration will be helpful to clear your problem.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
