What Causes Burning Sensation On The Lips While On Losartan?
I am taking Losarton, my doctor told me to stop as of Monday; my lips are red and burning as if I had a sunburn. Right now it's peeling and really sore. It also had spread below my onto my chin and my lips swell. I've been taking this pill for 2 years and no problem until now. Just putting on a cream called 'Carmex' to keep it from drying out. Any ideas? I am 69 years old. Louise Ferrera
Burning sensation of the lips along with swelling of lips and peeling can be due to allergic reaction leading to allergic angioedema of the lips..
If Losartan is considered to be the culprit and you have already stopped taking it then the symptoms will gradually improve..
To reduce the severity of symptoms, you can consult your doctor and discuss about taking anti allergics.. Along with it continue applying Carmex or you can also apply thick coat of Petroleum jelly.. Apply cooled aloevera gel over the lips.. Do ice packs over the lips.. Take Vitamin supplements.. Drink plenty of water and avoid spicy food as they can further irritate the lips..
Hope this helps.
Regards.
