What Causes Burning Sensation In The Vagina After Taking Metronidazole?
Hello. The doctor said I have bacterial vaginosis. He gave me Metronidazole. 2 tablets (400 mg each ) for 7 days. By now I had 5 tablets. My symptoms before I start taking tablets was pain like burning in vagina and painful to urinate (especially at the end). I still have that symptoms and seems the pain get even worst. Now I can t understand if the tablets just not working or I get a bad side effects from Metronidazole? Or both?Do not know what to do? Should I stop taking that tablets ? Had this problem first time in my life. Doctor make diagnostics just looking at me and talking to me, without any test results. He made the smear test but results will be ready after 7 days. I am 30 years old, weight 65 kg and 170cm tall.
Hi Burning pain in vagina and painful urination could be caused by bacterial vaginosis, sexually transmissible infection(STI) or a urinary tract infection. If i were your treating physician, i ask for a vaginal smear test, urinalysis and other STI work-ups.I will treat you with respect to the test results and if i should treat you for bacterial vaginosis, i will add amoxicillin to the metronidazole you are taking.Discuss this with your Doctor. Wish you a quick recovery
