General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. Both of your symptoms are due to esophageal re-flux disease. When you get up the regurgitated acid from stomach causes burning pain & pressure due to esophagitis & while lying down it causes asthamatic type of difficulty in breathing. - In managing it by self care you need to control weight gain/ eat small & frequent food , avoiding spicy, oily food/ avoid alcohol, smoking/ avoid snacks at bed time, .-avoid triggers for breathlessness( allergens) & also for triggers for refux - Consult a physician & continue treatment for acid reflux disease & asthma ( if you have it ) . Thanks
