What Causes Burning Sensation And Itching Around The Vagina?

Ihave recently gone to the beach for a whole so I was in and out of the water all day in my bathing suit. Before I left I made sure to rinse off a bit, changed my clothes even though i had a tiny bit of sand left on. I tried getting off what I could. After my 2and a half hour trip I was fine took a shower and the next morning I started to feel very itchy and burning on the outside of my vaginal area and with now improvement throughout the day. Is there anything that could help this ?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Probably you are having vaginal candidiasis. It will be good to know if you are a diabetic, your age, and exposure history. Sea water affects pH of vagina and predisposes to infections.

You would probably need Clotrimazole pessary or Fluconazole tablet. Please visit your gynecologist. Use condom till you are diagnosed and cured.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. S Chatterji
