What Causes Burning Pain In Chest?

Burning pain about a 4or5 find myself rubbing the pain after drinking a cold drink. Like a bad bee sting. It last only minutes but has progressively gotten more annoying when sitting. It does not seem to radiate. Stays in an area about the 3 inches round..it does not hurt when eating food. No sweats or heart race.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Thank You for contacting HCM.

There are multiple causes of burning sensation in chest. Most common causes include GERD, Acid peptic disease, heart disease, pancreatitis. If there is no family history of heart disease or any chronic illness then first cause couldbe GERD. I would suggest you following things:
> Take omeprazole 40mg once daily for 10 days
> Take sucralfate suspension twice a day for 5 days
> Take ranitidine twice a day for 5 days.

AVOID:
> Chilled water
> Drinks
> Spicy food
> Chocolates
> Heavy mean at night

Report to hospital if:
> Condition remain same after 2-3 days
> Any unusual symptom appears
> Condition deteriorates.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow
up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
Wishing you good health.
