What Causes Burning In Throat Along With Abdominal Gurgling And Dizziness?
Hi. My brother drank 20 ml strong phenyl or toilet cleaner yesterday. He was continuously vomiting for half an hour. We gave him water and made him vomit. Doctor suggested that only if you sense any problem in the stomach visit the hospital. He didn t give any medicine and told to eat anything. He just has a burning sensation in the throat, grumbling in the stomach and a dizzy feeling. He seems totally normal. But what should be done next and what are the possible complications? Suggest a diet too. Thank you.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Prakruthi's Response
Hi allow sometime for his system to settle. Phenol is a corrosive and would have irritated and eroded the superficial layers of the throat food pipe and so on. So allow for the layers to regenerate. He can have soft bland food - porridge, bread, fruits and take a lot of fluids like juices. Include a lot of fibre in the form of bananas. Avoid hot spicy foods. His symptoms will subside soon. It is most important at this point to figure out why he took such a step and prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. Consult a psychiatrist \ psychologist who will be able to guide him and counsel him. I wish your brother good health :)
