What Causes Burning And Tingling Sensation On The Tongue?

I have been bothered with a tongue condition for about a year. It seems to come and go but is mostly an annoyance when I am trying to go to sleep. My tongue looks normal but sometimes feels like it is too big for my mouth. When trying to sleep I seem to want to force it against my teeth and roof of my mouth. It burns and tingles too. I have asked my dentist and my General Practitioner but no one has an answer.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your query burning and tingling sensation of the tongue can be due to causes like Vitamin B12 and iron deficiency, Side effects of medications, allergic reaction to any food or medicine, dry mouth etc..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Blood tests can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
Treatment of the underlying cause can help in relieving the symptoms..

As of now you can start taking a multivitamin tablet daily..
Chew sugarfree chewing gums as it helps in stimulating saliva flow..
Avoid spicy foods as it can increase tongue irritation..
Drink plenty of cool water and take sufficient rest..
Avoid stress by meditation and breathing exercises..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
