What Causes Burning And Tingling Sensation In Penis Along With Rectal Pain?

Dr, On the 13th January, 2016, I had severe abdominal pain which put down as a UTI, Urine test showed an infection was present and I was given 2 courses of Augmentin 875 Clauvacic Acid and Metrogyl. That all subsided and then I got testicular pain, which ultrasound showed up as mild epidiymits. A few days after that, on 2nd February, I started to get a tingling burning sensation in my penis. This has not gone, I have been given Trimethoprim 300mg. I have taken for 3 days and there is no improvement. I have minor pain/ache in my rectum also. All blood and urine tests have been clear. Ultrasounds also clear. My docotr says I have prostatitis. Is he on the right track? I cant eat through worry and stress and am losing weight quickly. Is there anything we are missing? Thanks Gavin

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
welcome to HCM
I really appreciate your concern
Looking at your description this might be related to prostate disease, recurrent or chronic UTI, constipation or anorectal disease like hemorrhoids or fissure in Ano

I would advise you to consult a general surgeon for per rectal examination to rule out prostate enlargement and hemorrhoids.

I would advise you to ultrasound abdomen and pelvis to see for prostate enlargement.

Meanwhile maintain good hygiene, avoid constipation by taking laxative or stool softener.
Multivitamin and calcium supplements
hope this answers your question, please feel free to ask if you have any more queries, I will be happy to help you.
Best wishes
