What Causes Burning And Tingling Sensation During Urination?

My husband had a klebsiella UTI. He had 2 doses of Rocephin, 2 doses of Vancomycin, a 10 day round of Amoxicillin, two 7-day rounds of Septra. Initially the Kleb was sensitive to Amoxicillin, then not on a subsequent UA C&S. A renal/bladder US showed a less than 1 cm non-obstructing stone in the R kidney. The acute S/S of burning, difficulty starting a stream and ? fully emptying have resolved. However he has residual off and on urgency, and a bit of initial tingling . What might be causing this? He did have constipation w/Decitabine chemo for leukemia and feels he might have strained his trap door for his urine (sphincter) when straining to have a BM...possible?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, I can understand your concern.

As your husband is already on antibiotics and still having burning sensation, then there are possibility of it may be due to renal stone or UTI by another infection.

So I will suggest you to do urine culture and sensitivity and ultrasound abdomen and pelvis. it may have possibility that stone may came in bladder also. Kindly consult with urologist with reports.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.Thank you.
