What Causes Burning Along With Pain In Upper Abdomen?

Hello. I am a 40 year old female. Ever since I was 18 years old, when I would eat something, it would feel like the food would get stuck at the top of my stomach, rich under my breasts, but in the middle. Now I am 40, and over the years a knot has developed there, and it gives me a lot of trouble. Sometimes burning, sometimes pain, almost unbearable. I went to a clinic around where I live, and the Dr. wanted me to go to our local hospital and have an MRI, but when I went for the test, I was told I would have to pay almost a thousand dollars up front, and in full, since I have no kind of health insurance, so I just didn t go back. Is there anyway, you can just give me any idea what this knot could possibly be, and how can I control the onsets of pain? Thank you.
