What Causes Bumps On The Tongue While Suffering From Severe Cough?

I've had a bad cough for over a week and now there are bumps appearing on my tongue towards my throat/back of my mouth. When I went to urgent care they said I was only sick but to come back in if I had a fever. I did get a fever. I'm confused mostly what the bumps are?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain there is a possibility that cough and fever os due to viral infection and it can be the cause of bumps on the tongue that can be swollen papillae lead to Transient Lingual Papillitis..

Nothing to worry as the symptoms will improve as the infection will subside..

As of now you can do warm saline gargle..
Gargle with antiseptic mouthwash solution..
Take a soft diet and drink plenty of water..
If the bumps are painful you can gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
Take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
