What Causes Bumps At Back Of Tongue And Throat Discomfort?

I found bumps on the back of my tongue and it feels like there s hair in my throat. Was positive for strep and took antibiotics and was then negative for strep after a culture. That was three weeks ago and bumps and hairy feeling are still there. No pain.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the bumps on back of tongue with feeling of hair indicate stomatitis with secondary changes in the filliform papillae of the tongue.

The reason behind this is side effect of the antibiotic as azithromycin, cefadroxil or others used to control strep throat.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
