What Causes Bruising On Toe Nails?

Hi there, i went to my doctor for a regular skin check. She noticed i had a bruise on my left large toe-nail. I do remember my toe nails were a little long a week before and I was wearing high heels and my were feet hurting. She said it should grow out. It has faded a little but im not sure if its grown out yet? It has been just under 3 weeks. Does it look dangerous to you? I am seeing her in 2 weeks but i am just nervous until then. Also i have just picked my chilac nail polis off- my nail is normally smooth and no lumps/ bumps etc.

Thank you for your help

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain bruising of toenails can be due to traumatic injury to the toes leading to blood accumulation..
In case if you have worn high heels then excessive pressure over the toes can lead to more blood flow over he toes due to the angulation of feet and along with it there seems to pressure, pain and bruising..
Bruising caused due to wearing high heels or very tight shoes is not an abnormal finding and you need not to worry as it will get resolved gradually..
I would suggest you to avoid wearing very high heels and prefer wedges as they distribute body weight better..
You should also do alternate warm and cool compresses over feet..
Soak your feet in warm water with epson salt in it..
Apply Heparin gel..
In case if it still shows no signs of improvement consult your physician..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
