What Causes Bruising And Warmth In Leg?

Hello, I sprained my ankle playing soccer 6 days ago. I went to the doctors that night and the x ray came back negative. I wrapped up my ankle and that seemed to push the swelling into my leg. Now my leg has most of the bruising and red/purple colors and it is somewhat warm. My lower leg has some swelling warmness. Should I be worried my bruise is warm?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear thanks for the question.

Firstly let me assure you that it is normal healing process, so don't worrry. healing will take 10 to 14 days. Discolouration and warmth will both disappear in due time.

During healing process blood supply to an affected part increases, which is reason for this warmth. Bruising changes colour during healing .

You give rest to your leg and take pain killers. do cleaning of wound everyday by antiseptic solution. If fever Develops meet a doctor as it may be due to abscess in the injury site.

I hope my reply will benefit you. Please write for follow up queries. I wish you rapid recovery. Please provide a feedback. Thanks
