What Causes Bruise Between Pubic Area And Leg?

I noticed what appeared to be a bruise---or maybe a red area at the juncture between the pubic area and Rt. leg. No pain or swelling but it is red to purple and about 4 inches by 2 inches in size. Also there is a round spot on the right thigh nearby that is about 2 inches in diameter that appeared at the same time. I cannot imagine what the cause could be.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Bruise can occur due to injury or any internal bleed. Any recent history of trauma should be ruled out. Round spot on the thigh could be a rash caused due to allergy or fever. Any fungal infection should also be ruled out.The rash needs to be examined by your doctor or you can get back to us with photos of the lesion.

Any bleeding or clotting disorders should be ruled out.Complete blood count, bleeding time, clotting time and Prothrombin time should be tested in case of persisting bruise.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
