What Causes Bruisability In A Hypertensive 50-year-old Woman?

Lately, I have experienced a couple of times where I hit my arm or foot on something, fairly hard, but not really hard, and the areas where I ve hit have immediately swollen up and bruised. What could be causing this to happen? I am 51 and female. I am on mess for high blood pressure, but otherwise am healthy. In fact, I run about 25 miles a week.

Hi,

It may be pressure induced urticaria or swelling or dermatographia or vitamin C deficiency or clotting factors deficiency or connective tissue disorders or normal physiological phenomenon or postmenopausal syndrome.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Check for eosinophilia or clotting factors or liver function tests and vitamin C level etc.

Avoid such type of impact leads to a stress fracture of bones. Use calcium tablet. Drink plenty of fruit juices and vitamin C contain food.

If you have any doubts consult your physician, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
