What Causes Brownish Vaginal Discharge After Taking Alesse?
i gave birth to my daughter 5 weeks ago I was given birth control to take I started the first week of March it was micronor I took it for 2 weeks then I was told to switch to alesse and I have been on that for a week and 3 days and about 3 days ago I started with a brown discharge is that normal what s going on?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Micronor is often referred to as the "mini-pill" because it does not contain any estrogen. It is used as oral contraceptive pill. It contains Norethindrone which is a form of progestin. Alesse is a combined birth control pill containing ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel. Vaginal itching or discharge, changes in your menstrual periods and decreased sex drive are one of the side effects caused due to this pill. Since you have started it recently, it may take few more days for your body to get adapted for the use of this pill. You can wait for a while for things to settle down. However, if more symptoms emerge or these symptoms worsen, kindly consult Gynecologist for appropriate solution. Hope the information provided would be useful. All the best.
