What Causes Brown Vaginal Spotting Before Periods?

I ve been spotting for two weeks. It started a few days before my period was due and was a dark brown colour. The past few days it has turned more pink and only appears when I wipe rather than in my underwear. I have been to the dr and they have tested for STIs but all come back negative. Pregnancy tests also coming back negative. I know this isn t my period as I always get cramping and tender boobs a week or so in advance and have no symptoms.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, you need a gynaecologist review for per vaginal examination or ultrasound pelvis to identify the site of bleeding.

Irregular spotting may be normal variant in some individuals. The hormonal profile may also be needed. Less likely to be pregnancy as you mentioned.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
