What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge While On Levlen?

Hi, I ve started taking levlen ed after being on logynon ed. My last active pill finished on a tuesday so I began taking the sugar pill for levlen on the Wednesday but after taking 3 sugar pills my period didnt come so I had to continue taking the active pills for levlen and shortly after a couple days I got a light Brown discharge but hasn t stopped so far and its been almost a week since the discharge happened. Could I be pregnant or is that normal?

Hello,

The brown vaginal discharge while on Levlen is not indicative of pregnancy and it is not normal as well. Most of the cases of this issue is tend to be in concern with underlying vaginal infection through some sort of bacteria or fungi most likely. My guidelines at present:
- Drink more liquids
- Vaginal hygiene care
- Avoid prolong use of same tampons
- Intake of yogurt to support natural micro flora
- Prescription of antibiotic as metronidazole or else as per the clinician decision
