What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge Post Intercourse?
So the other day July 15th my boyfriend and I had sex. It was my first time having sex we used a condom and I am on birth control and afterwards we went to sleep and the next day I experienced light brown discharge and I am still having it (July 22). Is this normal? What is causing this? Does this mean I am pregnant?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
First sex mostly gives the symptoms you have. This is due tearing of hymen, a thin membrane covering vaginal orifice of a vergin.
Ir is a normal thing to happen after first sex. You are already on oral contraceptives. So nothing to worry about.
Please keep the genitals clean.wear a sanitary pad as per need, but be sure to change it at least 8 hourly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
