What Causes Brown Liquid Oozing Lump On The Thigh?

Hi, I have a bump on my inner thigh. It's slightly bigger than a quarter, and around it, it is hot. It's painful when I walk. I've had it for a about 2 days and today, it popped. It had a horrible odor, and was spilling out brownish liquid. I'm guessing it was pus and blood. I want to know what it is if possible.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a lump on inner thigh that is spilling a brownish fluid seems to be due to causes like bacterial infection of the skin in the area leading to accumulation of pus and there is discharge of blood and pus..
It can also be due to infection in the glands in the area in the skin or a hair follicle infection..
I would suggest you to clean the area with antiseptic solution and put gentle pressure to drain of the fluid as it has already ruptured..
You can also apply a Triple Antibiotic ointment over it..
You can also take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Follow for 2 to 3 days and in case if it does not improve consult a General Physician and get evaluated an he can also advise you a course of oral antibiotics like a combination of Sulphamethoxazole and Trimethoprim..
Incision and drainage can be done o completely remove fluid followed by antiseptic dressing for faster relief..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of brown liquid oozing lump on the thigh. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like haematoma, cellulitis and abscess. Sometimes it could be due to allergic reaction as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to clean the lump with soap and normal water , apply warm compresses and take benadryl twice a day . If it doesn't get better in a day then consult dermatologist for proper examination to prevent condition like septicemia . Doctor may check the consistency . Doctor may drain the lump , prescribe antibiotics , anti allergic and anti inflammatory .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
