What Causes Brown And Yellow Vaginal Discharge?

I am having a brown/yellowish vaginal discharge for about 2 weeks- for lack of a better term-smells like feces. I have an IUD. Actually went to the doctor today tested for BV and yeast and that was negative. I don't think I described the smell very well. However, she could not see the strings of the IUD so scheduled an ultrasound in two days. Have had some cramping and spotting also. Any suggestions?

Hello,
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
The history you have provided suggest the possibility of initial stages of Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) due to IUD insertion.
It can lead to serious complication like infertility if not treated timely.Before commencing treatment we have to rule out diseases like vaginal candidiasis.
I suggest you to consult a gynecologist and get the following things done.You have to remove the IUD as soon as possible.Since the thread is not visible,It should be removed under USG guidance.(So visit a hospital with USG facility).Get a culture and sensitivity of the discharge done and start antibiotic accordingly.
As of now you can take analgesics if you have pain.It is better to avoid sex for few days.Drink plenty of water and keep good personal hygiene.
