What Causes Broken Blood Vessels In The Eyes?

I have been experiencing frequent broken blood vessels in my eyes, bruising more easily and have had blood in my stool. I have visited my eye doctor and he doesn t see any issues with my eyes and recommended that I see a doctor. Do you think the symptoms could be related or are they probably separate issues? I am a 50 year old female with no prior health issues. Thank you.

If the opthalmologist /eye doctor ruled out any issues with the eyes then it would be best to be seen by your general doctor.

Spontaneous bleeds in the eyes, bruising and blood in the stool may indicate that there may be specific issues with the blood in some persons.

In addition to a full history and physical examination, you would need at least a complete blood count and ESR. The complete blood count would take a look at your hemoglobin, white cell count, platelets and the ESR would determine if there is any inflammation in the body

Inflammation can occur due to different causes such as infection , allergies, trauma, cancer.

Treatment would depend on the cause found.
