What Causes Breathlessness While At A Higher Altitude In An Obese Person?

Hello, I work as an xray tech and I have recently moved to a higher elevation mountain job. I am obese and taking methotrexate for my psorisis.. but I have noticed an increase of Shortness of breath lately with activity and sometimes I have to catch my breath just sitting doing computer work. Should i be concerned? What test should I request from my physician to see if there is a problem.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
It usually takes a few months for ones body to acclimate to the altitude change but if I were your doctor I would do a full cardiac workup and spirometry--breathing function test--along with a chest x-ray just to rule out any cardiac or pulmonary issues here
