What Causes Breathing Difficulty And Wheezing While Suffering From Bronchitis?
my husband seems to have bronchitis he went to walk in clinic and they gave him a Z-Pack, however he is having difficulty breathing and wheezing robituson doesn t seem to help. His fever stays about 100 with tylenol. Should I take him to the emergency room or back to the clinic
The symptoms you have mentioned like cough, fever, wheezing, shortness of breath matches the diagnosis of bronchitis. The medicine that is prescribed to your husband includes an antibiotic, a steroid and anti-pyretic. These medicines are fine for acute cases of bronchitis although you want to know the oxygen saturation of your husband too, in case it is low you need to have him on oxygen too and I would also recommend a broncho-dilator and a mucolytic medication as well which would help in reliving the shortness of breath. If your husband is not getting well with all these medicines I would like to take your husband to ER where he will be managed acutely and will be discharged to home after his acute recovery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zia Ul Haq, General & Family Physician
