Hello,
I understand you have a question about bradycardia. The main question of what to do about bradycardia is whether you have symptoms or not. If you do not have any symptoms such as
lightheadedness, fainting, chest pain or inability to exercise, then there is no need to do anything. There are many causes of
sinus bradycardia, including medications,
heart disease,
obstructive sleep apnea, infections, and a problem with the pacemaker in your heart. It can also just be a normal variant, sometimes seen in athletes or former athletes. I am assuming your doctors have looked for these and other causes and did not find the cause for your bradycardia.
If you have any symptoms, however, then treatment is recommended. If no other causes are found, you would normally be evaluated for a problem with your pacemaker, called
sick sinus syndrome, which a heart rhythm doctor can evaluate for, and can be treated with a pacemaker.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
