What Causes Bone Shrinkage Along With Loss Of Weight?

My husband is 73 years old. He takes one pill, simvistatin which he has been on for 10 years! He has been diagnosed with osteopenia and has lost 2 inches in height. His last blood work was good but I am worried about his ongoing weight loss. He has continued to drop just a pound or two each month for the past 8 or 9 months. He is now down to 160! Should I be worried?

Yes. His weight loss is rather significant. It would have been nice to know if he had any associated symptoms. However given his age please do the following. Hemogram. Creatinine. ESR. Urine routine.rbs. cxr. USG abdomen and stool for occult blood. Tsh. Anything major can be detected spot on. If you checked his lipids recently in three months skip it. If not repeat it as well. Hope it helps take care.
