What Causes Body Chills After Having Dinner?

My husband developed chills about two hours after eating a dinner of shrimp and salmon. He felt feverish to tough and had a slight headache. No vomiting or diarrhea. In the night the chills stopped but then he began to sweat. This morning he has some body chills and just feels generally under the weather . Could these symptoms be caused by a food borne illness?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to low or high blood pressure.

When you eat, blood is redirected to your stomach, making your extremities colder than usual. It’s normal to be colder after eating.

I suggest to eat small meals and eat slowly.

I also recommend drinking a lot of liquids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
