What Causes Blurred Vision Along With Dizziness?

I have a friend who had sudden (as in overnight it was a little, in the morning total) blurry vision and arm numbness, some dizziness. When he got to the doctor, his blood pressure was 177/143. After a bit they checked again and it was 140/80. A couple hours later we checked it again with a home cuff and it was 120/80. He does smoke but has never had problems with his blood pressure before or since. He does have a problem in the c-spine where the vertebrae have disintegrated and his scull isn t exactly attached to his spine because of this. I am wondering if this could cause the sudden jump in blood pressure and the other symptoms. He did not go to the ER and they did not do any kind of stroke evaluation since the blood pressure dropped back down so quickly. Any ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic. I read your query and I understand your concern. I think he was having a TIA a transitory ischemic attack. Maybe a neurologist evaluation may help him. Meanwhile kerping blood pressure under control is necessary. Also is recommanded to quit smoking. Hope my answer was helpful. If yes vote helpful. Regards, Dr Olgeta Xhufka general and family physician.
