What Causes Blurred Vision After Taking Detrol?

I took Detrol for a few years, a few years ago. Have not used it since. I am thinking of asking my Dr. if I could go back on it, but the one side effect I got that NEVER left is blurred vision for far away stuff after reading or doing something close up. Will this get worse? And, wasn t it suppose to go away after stopping the medication?? I eventually get focused after just looking at the far away stuff. I am 67.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand you have a question about blurry vision on Detrol. Detrol does cause blurry vision, but usually it is for near objects, not far away. Also, the blurred vision caused by Detrol would be temporary, while the medication had effect, so the blurred vision you are having now is almost certainly not due to the Detrol you took a few years ago.

You may have age related vision changes or another vision problem for which I would suggest you see an eye doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
