What Causes Bloody Diarrhea And Extreme Weakness?

Hi, I am a 57 yr. old female, 5'2", 200 lbs, having had gastric bypass 3 yrs ago. My BP is normally 145/85 and I have RA. Otherwise healthy.



Went to ER on Friday, with blood in stool (very black and red after a tarry stool on Wed.), diarrhea, & extreme weakness. Had a BP of 125/43 and hemoglobin of 9. They gave me IV fluids, kept me for 5 hours, then let me go home. Dr. felt it was bacterial and because my Hemoglobin was so low it effected me more.



So, I'm on Cipro, diarrhea has stopped, but I still am extremely weak, even though I am drinking lots of fluids.



He said my bun and creatin were OK, can't remember much more...



Any ideas what could be causing these symptoms? I was just told to go to my family doc on Tues.
