What Causes Blood Stained Nasal Discharge In A Toddler?

Hey My daughter (1 month short of 3 yrs) was digging her nose some 20 days back. i suspect she has pushed in a foreign particle. First day she had a lil blood discharge then next three days she had cold like symptom and then for 10 days she just had nose block symptom when she use to go to bed at night. Now for a week I am seeing some brown colored blood-stained mucous discharge. And all this has jst been from the right nose. Also to take a note is that there has been a very strong odor that has been coming from her nose (nasal discharge)

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I feel that this could be foreign body in the nostril which the kid might have inserted inadvertently. I suggest that you take her to the ENT surgeon who will probe and remove it please.

Best regards
