What Causes Blood In Urine In Spite Of Being On Antibiotics?

Hi, in last week I have done my routine urine test and it was having blood 2+ in chemical examination. Pus cells 0-1,RBC/hpf 2-3, epithelial cells/hpf 0-1 and bacteria/hpf 10-12. My doctor advised me to take Oflox 200 mg twice daily for 5 days and repeat the test. After antibiotic course, in my recent urine report blood 3+ it is showing. Pus cells 0-1,RBC/hpf 6-8, epithelial cells/hpf 1-2 and bacteria/hpf 10-12. I am worried now because after antibiotic course also I am having blood in my urine. Please advise.

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
There can be lot of problems that can causes blood in urination along with bacteria 10-12/hpf, pus cells/epithelial cells.
1.Most common is Urinary tract infection Urinary tract infection (UTI), is an infection that affects part of the urinary tract. When it affects the lower urinary tract(more common) it is known as a simple cystitis and when it affects the upper urinary tract it is known as pyelonephritis. Symptoms from a lower urinary tract include painful urination and either frequent urination or urge to urinate. While the symptoms of pyelonephritis include fever and flank pain in addition to the symptoms of a lower UTI. In some cases, a painful burning sensation in the urethra may be present.
2. Stones in the kidney, bladder or ureter can sometimes get detached & cause trauma of urinary tract causing blood or rbc in urine.
3.Trauma by Vigorous exercise
4.Benign prostatic hyperplasia
5. Other uncommon kidney and Urinary tract problem including tumour
So you should visit a nephrologist.

Don't worry you would be fine
Hoping your query is solved.
