What Causes Blood In Urine After An Abdominal Hernia Surgery?
I am a 53 year old male and had abdominal hernia surgery this week. Pretty extensive. 11 incisions. Now I have severe pain under my right rib cage, blood in my urine, and a low grade fever (highest was 100.2). Should I be concerned or can it wait until Monday.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Yes, you should surely consult your doctor as soon as possible. All your symptoms are suggestive of surgical site bleeding.
It is a rare complication after surgery. In this, an intraoperative suture may leak and cause bleeding. So, immediately consult your doctor and discuss all these.
You may need a CT scan to confirm this complication. If bleeding is there, then you may need re-exploration.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
