What Causes Blood In Stools?

My wife has been enduring some pretty drastic changes to bowel movements over the past year. We thought maybe she had ibs because when we traveled it was common for her stomach to act up. But today she had a bowel movement and there was a round ball of red poop that looked fake in the toliet. We are waiting for our health insurance to kick in but at the moment we have no coverage so we cant just drop in the hospital.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This seems in relation with different possible causes such as intestine infection, hemorrhoids, inflammatory bowel disease and others.

Needs primary evaluation with a consultant surgeon for the sake of procto anoscopy examination for the management aspect.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
