What Causes Blood In Stool?

I had severe cramps through the night. I know that IS must have pushed a liile hard. I kept gong into the bathroom. I did go, but this morning I noticed red blood in the stool. Could I have irritated or torn something? It felt as if I had eaten something that may have been spoiled, which caused severe cramping.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Blood in stool is usually due to fissure in ano, piles that are hemorrhoids, polyp or ulcer of any nature and any straining can cause bleeding in any of these conditions.

I would advise you the following in such a situation:
• Get a consultation of a general surgeon for local examination per-rectal digital examination, anoproctoscopy, and colonoscopy to be planned
• Tests of blood and stool
• Sitz bath in a tub with warm water
• Laxatives to keep the stools soft and the further management as per the findings which may require surgery

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
